Thanksgiving, A Poem
.

Thank you for this day,
Thank you for a day off from work,
And the football that we play.
I’m grateful for the stuffing,
I’m grateful for the pie,
I’m grateful for elastic pants,
And that turkeys do not fly.
I appreciate the pilgrim hats,
And the good times that we’ve had,
I appreciate dad renting a fryer,
Even though mom got real mad.
So thank you for the cranberry sauce,
That we plop out of the can,
I love potatoes drowned in gravy,
Almost more than I can stand.
Thank you for the photos,
Bloated cousins are just swell,
And thank you for the tryptophan,
That makes me sleep so well.
