In Other News… Fall Wrap-Up

Football: The Harriton football team has a record of one win and nine losses, the lone win coming against Octorara High School. Senior Colin Powell said that although the team did not have many wins, they “stuck together and had a lot of heart.”
Boys Soccer: The Harriton Boys soccer team had a record of 6-9, one tie shy of reaching the district playoffs. The high points of the season included a 1-0 win over Marple Newtown and a 2-1 win in double overtime over Haverford High. The team scored with only three minutes left in regulation time to send it to overtime and with three minutes left in the second overtime to win.
Field Hockey: The Harriton Field Hockey team went 7-8 this season. The team’s biggest victories came against Marple Newtown, Upper Darby, and arch rival Lower Merion. Senior Jen Margulies believes that the best part of the season was, “coming together and playing as a team, as well as becoming respected in the Central League.” She also joked that another great part of the season was “being able to keep up with teams that used to kill us.”
Girls Soccer: The Harriton Girls soccer team went 5-12, with big wins coming against Sun Valley, Germantown Friends, Springfield and Chichester. High points in the season included a win over Springfield in overtime. Senior Alexa Hoffman believes that the season was one of many ups and downs. “Even with all of the adversity,” she says, “the team came together and had a good time.”
Cross Country: The Harriton Cross country team had another phenomenal season behind their top two runners, freshman Max Norris and sophomore Peter Downs. Runners who placed highly in PIAA district championships included Downs, Norris, Alex Schupper, Allison McLaughlin, Andrea Sobel, and Kayla Opall.
