Daniel Carp–Sports Editor
Shilpa Soundararajan–OpEd Editor
Shilpa Soundararajan is the editor for Harriton’s Opinion and Editorial section. She is now a senior, but she started out on the newspaper when she was a tiny 13-year-old freshman. Writing had always been one of her passions, but with a little encouragement from upperclassmen, she started writing more and more for the school newspaper – for A&E, News, and anything else she could get her hands on. “Writing is one of my favorite things to do, and I’ve always written things for myself. But writing for the school newspaper meant that my writing would now be somewhat public and that was something I had never been exposed to – writing for an audience other than myself.” Shilpa encourages others to join the Banner because, “…it is a great opportunity for you guys to get your ideas and your thoughts out there and in the minds of the Harriton population.”
Eileen Mayro—Outreach Editor
Eileen Mayro is a senior and has been apart of the Banner since her sophomore year. Last year, she was the editor of the Faculty Spotlight section, in which she had the opportunity to get to know a plethora of teachers. She is currently the outreach editor. Eileen looks forward to producing a bigger and better newspaper filled with quality articles.
Anjali Desai—Arts & Entertainment Editor
This is Anjali Desai. She a junior and is currently entering her second year with the Harriton Banner. In her opinion, the job of Arts and Entertainment Editor couldn’t be more perfect! She is a movie, music and TV enthusiast as well as a member of many of the school’s creative arts clubs. She is so excited for this year because it gives my writers and her the chance to give Harriton High School the creative scoop! She hopes you enjoy reading the arts and entertainment section!
Michelle Mayro—Features Editor
Michelle Mayro has been apart of the Harriton Banner since freshman year. She is currently editor of the Features section. During her junior year, she was the editor of the Humor section. She is extremely exited to spend her senior year editing the features section and she looks forward to the monthly paper.
Victoria Marchiony—Humor Editor
Victoria Marchiony is an IB Senior at Harriton. She has worked as a staff writer for various sections of the Banner since her freshman year. Through her work she discovered her love for writing humor, which has translated into her new post as the humor page editor this year. Tori is excited to be a part of making 2009-2010 the Banner’s best year yet.
Jackie Milestone—News Editor
Jackie Milestone is your friendly Harriton Banner News Editor! She is in 10th grade and this her second year with the Harriton Banner. She is extremely excited for the coming year with the banner. She is sure that the Banner staff will manage to put out a great product every month. She absolutely loves to write and hopefully will do justice to the News section of the paper. WISDOM TO LIVE BY: if you are ever feeling stressed and have six articles beginning to pile up and do not know what to do with yourself, just take a deep breath, eat some ice cream, and remember that you are surrounded by a great, supportive group of people called the Harriton Banner Staff.
Lauren Fox—Spotlight Editor
Lauren Fox is a senior at Harriton. This is her fourth year working for the Harriton Banner and second year as an editor. This year she is the editor for the Spotlight section of the paper. Lauren enjoys writing for The Banner due to her passion for journalism and is looking forward to keeping the student body informed and entertained.
Moira Lavelle–Magazine Editor
Moira Lavelle is a sophomore at Harriton and has been on the Banner staff since her Freshman year. She is the editor of the new Banner Magazine, which is published inside the newspaper every issue (much like the New York Times Magazine). She really enjoys every aspect of the Banner from visualizing ideas, to the last minute push to get it published, to the seeing the final copy in print. She thinks this is going to be a great year for our newspaper and she hopes everyone is able to find their own reasons to love the Banner.
Chris Paine—Photography Editor
Chris Paine is a senior at Harriton. This is his first year as an editor on the Harriton Banner and is very excited to be working with such a great staff. He is the photographer editor of the newspaper. Chris enjoys his position due to his joy for photography and desire to share with the Harriton community.
Costanza Maio—Editor-in-Chief
Costanza Maio has been on the Harriton Banner staff since her sophomore year. Last year, she was the editor of the Specials section, and this year, she is the co-editor-in-chief. Although she has always loved writing, her interest in the newspaper began after various experiences with impoverished countries and community service. She realized that awareness leads to change, and has been involved in the newspaper ever since. She is excited for the Banner to start this year, especially in the new school!
Alexis Sokol—Editor-in-Chief
Alexis Sokol is a senior at Harriton High School. This is her third year serving as a member of The Harriton Banner Staff and she loves it just as much as she did when she started her sophomore year. If there is one thing the newspaper has done for her, it’s that is has given her a home where she feels comfortable with all of her peers and with that work that she does. She loves her job as an Editor-in-chief, and hopes to pursue a career in journalism in college and later on in life as well.
Lauren Berenbaum—Editor-in-Chief
Lauren Berenbaum is a senior at Harriton High school and has been apart of The Banner since her freshman year. She was one of the Around Harriton editors last year and is currently one of the editor-in-chiefs. She loves being apart of something that delivers interesting and informative news to the Harriton community. Lauren says that, “…being apart of the The Banner has given me the oppurtunity to safely express my thoughts and opinions in an enviornement that is accepting and encouraging of different opinions…”. She is also the editor of the web and is extremely excited to put her vision to life on this brand-new website! (She also hopes that everyone checks back as often as possible).
