Mrs. Koukos, a Teacher/Administrator

I remember when I first met Todd Marrone in 1999 during my first week of teaching at Welsh Valley. I couldn’t wrap my head around who or what he was. I remember thinking – Is he for real? Is he being sarcastic or genuine? Who is this man that makes outrageous statements in faculty meetings? Who is this man who changes head/facial hair styles on a whim while also wearing random costumes for school wide events? Who is this man that creates magic in the classroom through art, discussion, music, and comedy?

That man was Todd Marrone. Todd was the type of teacher who would walk into your classroom and the students would stop paying attention to your lesson in hopes of hearing Todd make a joke. He was the type of colleague who would stop whatever he was doing to listen and to process if you needed an ear. He was the type of man who would reach out to you if you were in need of a friend, and he did this for me on many occasions -professionally and personally.

I had the pleasure of working with Todd for 13 years before moving onto Harriton. He will be missed by many, myself included. Thank you, Todd, for being a great teacher, colleague, and friend. May your wife and children hold onto these stories and cherish his memory.
